Description

The Sal is a single GU10 spotlight with an integrated rocker switch on the backplate and an adjustable cylindrical head finished in matt black. The head pivots on a single-axis joint, allowing the beam to be directed upward, downward or across a wall depending on the application. The compact 80mm square backplate mounts flush to the wall and houses a rocker switch that controls the spotlight without needing a separate wall switch.

Designed for bedside reading positions, kitchen task lighting above worktops, home office desk areas and accent lighting on artwork or architectural features, the Sal provides directed light where ceiling fittings would be impractical or where independent control is needed. The integrated switch makes it particularly useful for bedside installations where the user needs to control the light from the bed rather than the room's main switch.

The matt black finish gives a low-sheen surface that absorbs ambient light rather than reflecting it, making the fitting visually recede when not in use. The spotlight accepts any standard GU10 LED bulb (sold separately), allowing control over beam angle, colour temperature and brightness to suit the specific task. The 128mm projection from the wall gives clearance to aim the head without the bulb striking the wall surface.

The 100-240V supply at 50/60Hz covers UK mains without a separate driver. At 0.3kg the fitting is light enough for standard plasterboard fixings on the 80mm square backplate. Dimmable GU10 bulbs paired with a compatible dimmer let the output drop for low-level reading light, and the single-axis head can be reset whenever the position needs changing. The 1 year warranty applies.

What bulb does it take?

The Sal takes a standard GU10 bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. We suggest pairing this with a GU10 LED in the 4-7W range, choosing between warm white (2700K-3000K) for bedside use or cool white (4000K) for task lighting over desks and worktops.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself does not include dimming capability, but it will accept dimmable GU10 LED bulbs if paired with a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. The integrated rocker switch on the backplate is on/off only.

How much does the head adjust?

The cylindrical head pivots on a single-axis joint, allowing it to be angled upward, downward or across the wall. The joint holds its position once set but can be re-aimed by hand.

Can it be installed above a bed for reading?

Yes. The integrated switch on the backplate makes it particularly suited to bedside installation, allowing the light to be controlled from the bed without needing to reach a wall switch across the room. Fit it 600-900mm above mattress height and aim the head downward onto the pillow area for focused reading light.
