Description

Two heads on a slim white bar, each free to swivel and tilt so light goes exactly where you want it. At 250mm end to end it asks very little of a ceiling, which makes it useful in rooms where a larger fitting would look overbearing. Both heads take a GU10 lamp, and small reflector LEDs are what we would put in it. Dimming is possible if you choose dimmable lamps and run them from a compatible dimmer; neither the lamps nor the dimmer come with it.

We reach for this where light needs to be aimed rather than spread: over a kitchen worktop, along a run of shelving, or in a hallway that wants more than a plain flush fitting. It also earns its place in a study, where a desk and a screen rarely want the same brightness. Turn one head towards a picture and the other down a wall and a flat room starts to have some shape. It is intended for dry rooms indoors, so keep it away from shower zones and anywhere steam gathers.

The finish is matt white, a flat paint with no shine to it, so the bar reads quietly against a white or pale ceiling and the eye goes to the light instead of the fitting. Upkeep is light work: run a dry duster over the bar and around the heads occasionally, and let lamps go cold before you touch them or change the angle. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same linear bar in matt black and in satin gold with matt black, and there is a longer version with an extra head if you have a wider stretch to cover. Lamps are not included.

Each head takes a GU10 lamp, and a 50mm reflector LED is the sensible choice. The fitting accepts lamps up to 10W.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable GU10 lamps and use a dimmer suited to them. No dimmer is supplied.

How much space does it need?

The bar is 250mm long and 75mm wide, standing 128mm from the surface once the heads are in a neutral position. Allow a little clearance so each head can swing freely.

Can the heads be adjusted after fitting?

They can. Both swivel and tilt, so you can re-aim them if you move a worktop, a picture or a piece of furniture.

How do I clean it?

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid sprays and solvents on the matt paint, and never clean around a lamp that is still warm.

No. It is rated IP20, which suits ordinary dry rooms rather than bathrooms or anywhere exposed to damp.
