Description

The Sal is a single-head wall spotlight built around an 80mm square matt white backplate with an integrated rocker switch and a pivoting cylindrical head that takes a single GU10 bulb. The head rotates and tilts on a ball joint, allowing the light to be aimed at a specific area or angled upwards onto a wall or ceiling as wash light.

Designed for bedside reading positions, desk task lighting, or accent lighting on feature walls and artwork, the Sal suits residential bedrooms, home offices and hallways where a single directed light source is needed without a table lamp taking up surface space. The integrated rocker switch sits on the backplate itself, eliminating the need to reach for a wall switch or pull-cord, particularly useful for bedside installations where the switch needs to be within arm's reach from a pillow.

The matt white powder-coated finish gives a clean, low-glare appearance that pairs with white or neutral walls without creating a visual break. The 128mm projection from the wall positions the head far enough forward to clear the backplate's shadow when aimed downwards, making the fitting suitable for reading light directly above a pillow or angled onto a desk surface. The 0.3kg weight allows installation onto standard plasterboard with appropriate fixings.

The head tilts and rotates through a wide arc on the ball joint, so a single fitting can serve as reading light one day and wall wash the next. The 220-240V supply at 50/60Hz matches UK mains directly, requiring no additional transformer. Dimmable GU10 bulbs and a compatible dimmer allow the brightness to be tuned from full task light down to a low glow. The 1 year warranty applies.

Is the Sal dimmable?

The fitting itself is compatible with dimming when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch on the mains circuit. The integrated rocker switch on the backplate is an on/off switch only and does not provide dimming control.

What bulb is recommended?

The Sal takes any standard GU10 bulb up to the maximum wattage supported by the fitting (check the rating label on the backplate). For bedside reading, a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K colour temperature is typical. For task lighting at a desk, a neutral white 4000K may be preferred.

Can the head be angled in all directions?

Yes. The cylindrical head rotates and tilts on a ball joint, allowing it to be aimed downwards for reading, horizontally for wall wash, or upwards for indirect ceiling light. The range of motion covers approximately 180 degrees vertically and 270 degrees horizontally.

What wall fixing is needed?

The 0.3kg weight allows installation onto plasterboard using standard cavity wall plugs rated for at least 1kg. For masonry or brick walls, use appropriate wall plugs and screws. The backplate has mounting holes for screw fixing and conceals the cable entry point once installed.
