Description

The Sahara is a 1140mm linear suspension light with two integrated 36W LED modules housed within a sinuous polycarbonate diffuser that curves in four wave-like sections along a polished chrome aluminium frame. The integrated LEDs emit 2520 lumens at 3000K warm white through the frosted white diffuser, casting soft, shadow-free light across the full length of the fitting.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and counter-height peninsulas in open-plan spaces, the Sahara hangs on four slimline suspension cables with an adjustable drop between 1160mm and 1555mm from ceiling to diffuser. At 1140mm width the fitting covers a typical 1200-1500mm island or table without overhang, and the 44mm depth keeps the profile low enough to sit comfortably in the sightline above a worktop. The twin LED modules distribute light evenly along the length, avoiding the pooling effect that single-source pendants create.

The polished chrome frame provides structural support and a reflective accent that pairs cleanly with stainless steel appliances, chrome taps and contemporary hardware finishes. The frosted polycarbonate diffuser hides the LED strip inside while maintaining high light transmission, and the 120° beam angle spreads light laterally across the workspace rather than focusing it downward. At 1.62kg the fitting is light enough for standard plasterboard ceiling fixings with appropriate anchors.

The Sahara is not dimmable and runs on 220-240V mains supply. The 36W power draw is equivalent to approximately three traditional 60W incandescent bulbs, while the 2520lm output provides brighter task lighting than most single-pendant solutions over the same surface area. The integrated LED modules are rated for 3 years under Mantra's warranty.

Is the Sahara dimmable?

No. The integrated LED modules are not compatible with dimmer switches and should be connected directly to a standard mains circuit.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop is 1160mm and the maximum is 1555mm, both measured from ceiling to the bottom of the diffuser. For installation over a 900mm-high kitchen island or dining table, a ceiling height of at least 2.5m is recommended to maintain comfortable headroom.

How wide is the light spread?

The 120° beam angle directs light laterally across the worktop or table surface rather than focusing it in a narrow downward cone. At typical installation heights the 1140mm fitting illuminates a surface area of approximately 1500mm x 800mm.

Can the suspension cables be shortened?

Yes. The four suspension cables are adjustable during installation to set the drop anywhere between the 1160mm minimum and 1555mm maximum. Once installed the drop cannot be adjusted without accessing the ceiling rose.
