Description

The Sahara is a 1500mm LED floor lamp built around a double-helix frame of intertwining metal ribbons in silver and polished chrome, each ribbon wrapped in frosted white polycarbonate diffuser. An integrated 21W LED strip running through the helix produces 1470 lumens of 3000K warm white light, diffused through the frosted polycarbonate so the entire sculptural form glows rather than casting directional light.

Designed as ambient lighting with a sculptural presence, the Sahara suits open-plan living rooms, entrance halls and dining areas where a 250mm base footprint and 1500mm height can be accommodated without obstructing sightlines. The lamp sits on a circular polished chrome base and includes an inline floor dimmer on the cable, allowing output to be adjusted from full 1470lm down to a low background glow. The 120° beam angle from the LED strip spreads light evenly through the helix rather than projecting it in one direction.

The intertwining ribbons create a kinetic visual effect when viewed from different angles — the silver and chrome finishes reflect differently depending on viewing position and ambient light in the room. The frosted polycarbonate diffuser softens the LED output and hides the diode points, so the glow appears continuous along the length of each ribbon. At 4.2kg the lamp has enough weight to stay stable on carpet or hard floors without needing to be weighted separately, and the slim circular base keeps the footprint minimal.

Mantra manufactures the Sahara in Spain. The integrated LED is rated at 21W on 220-240V mains and carries a 3-year warranty covering both the LED module and the frame structure.

Is the Sahara dimmable?

Yes. The lamp includes an inline floor dimmer on the cable, allowing the 21W LED output to be adjusted from full brightness down to a low ambient glow. No additional dimmer switch is needed.

What room size does it suit?

At 1470 lumens the Sahara provides ambient rather than task lighting. It suits rooms of 15-25m² as supplementary lighting alongside ceiling fittings, or smaller rooms of 10-15m² where a softer ambient glow is preferred over bright overhead light.

Can the LED module be replaced?

The LED is integrated into the frame structure and is not user-replaceable. The LED module carries a 3-year warranty and is rated for 30,000+ hours of operation, equivalent to approximately 10 years of typical residential use.

Is it stable on carpets?

Yes. The 250mm circular chrome base and 4.2kg weight provide stability on both hard floors and short-to-medium pile carpets. On very thick or shag carpets the base may benefit from being placed where it sits flat rather than on uneven pile.
