Round Water Splash Glass Ornament and Paperweight - Blue

This round glass paperweight holds a water splash caught mid-burst, with fine pale blue strands fanning out from a central drop and falling back like spray. The top of the sphere glows a bright blue that softens towards clear glass, and a band of white froth sits above a deep navy base, so the whole piece reads like a wave breaking over dark water. Small air bubbles are scattered through the glass. It measures 8cm high, 8cm wide and 8cm deep and has a smooth gloss finish all over.

On a desk it does the job a paperweight is made for, keeping loose letters, notes and receipts in place near a fan or an open door. Away from the desk it works just as well as a glass ornament on a bookshelf, a dresser or a bedside table, where lamplight catches the layers of blue. Seen from above, the splash opens into a starburst of pale blue over navy, so it is worth placing somewhere it can be looked down on as well as viewed from the side. It suits a home office, a study or a living room shelf, and it makes an easy, cheerful gift.

The splash, the froth and the bubbles all sit within the glass, so the outside stays smooth and glossy with no edges to catch dust. To keep it bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth, and when it needs more, wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it straight away to avoid water marks. As with any glass piece, set it down gently on hard surfaces and keep it where it will not be knocked to the floor. We like it on a desk beside a lamp or a pen pot, or grouped with other blue glass on a shelf, and as a gift it needs nothing more than a ribbon and a card.
