Description

This tree log wall clock is shaped like a freshly cut slice of a trunk, with growth rings spreading out from the centre, fine radial cracks and a rough bark edge running all the way round. The face is a light tan brown, the bark rim a deeper dark brown, and four bold black numerals mark 12, 3, 6 and 9, with small black dots for the hours between. Slim black hands sweep from the middle, easy to read against the warm brown. Like a real log, its round outline is gently uneven: it measures 34.9cm across one way and 31.2cm the other, and just 3.5cm deep, so it sits close to the wall.

It suits a kitchen, a hallway, a snug or a study, anywhere a touch of woodland feels at home. The natural look sits well beside oak furniture, linen and green plants, and it belongs in a country cottage as easily as a modern room that needs some warmth. It is large enough to read from across the room without taking over a whole wall, which makes it a good fit above a mantelpiece, over a dresser or beside a doorway.

The ring pattern is raised and textured, so the light catches the grooves and cracks and gives the face real depth. At the back, a hanger near the top lets the clock hang from a single screw or picture hook, and the movement sits neatly in the centre, out of sight once it is up. To keep it looking its best, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth, working gently into the grooves where dust can settle. Hang it at eye level where the whole face can be seen, and set a basket of logs or a trailing plant nearby to carry the woodland feel through the room.
