Description

This white stoneware bowl pairs neat ribbed sides with a smooth band around its middle, where the words BOWL ME OVER are printed in slim black capitals. The ribbing runs in vertical ridges above and below the band, giving the round shape a tactile, gently patterned look. It sits on a low foot ring and is finished in a white glaze that keeps the whole piece bright and clean. At 12cm high and 23cm across, it holds 2100ml, so it is a roomy bowl rather than a small dish for one.

It belongs on the kitchen table or the worktop, where its size makes it a natural home for a pile of fruit or for keeping everyday bits to hand. The cheerful printed pun raises a smile every time someone reaches for it, which makes it an easy choice for anyone who likes a little humour around the house. Because it is white, it sits comfortably with most crockery and kitchen colours, from crisp modern schemes to farmhouse looks. We think it makes a thoughtful new home gift too: practical enough to be used from the first week, and with enough character to feel chosen rather than picked up at the last minute.

The bowl is made from stoneware and given a glazed finish, which leaves a smooth, gently glossy surface over the ribbed pattern. As general good practice for glazed stoneware, wipe it clean with a damp cloth and dry it with a soft cloth, taking care around the ridges so they stay crisp and bright. Handle it as you would any ceramic piece, since a knock against a hard surface can chip a glazed edge. For a housewarming, it looks lovely filled with lemons or with a folded tea towel tucked inside; at home, set it in the centre of the table so the printed words face out where everyone can see them.
