Description

This round wall clock brings a gentle country feel to any room, with a softly drawn Highland cow and a small hay bale set at the centre of a white face. Beneath the cow, in flowing script, run the words "Home Is Where The Herd Is", a warm and witty line for a family home. Pale grey numbers mark every hour from 1 to 12, and slim gold hands turn from a gold centre. The face sits inside a deep gold case with a metallic-effect finish, so the clock reads as gold and white from across the room. It measures 19.5cm across and 4cm deep.

The muted colours and plain white face sit happily in a country kitchen, a farmhouse-style hallway or a cosy living room, and the gold rim adds a little warmth to a white or neutral wall. The large numbers are easy to read at a glance, which makes it a practical choice for a busy kitchen where you want the time without fuss. At 4cm deep it sits close to the wall, so it suits a narrow hallway or the space above a doorway, where a bulkier clock would get in the way.

It keeps time with a quartz movement and an analogue dial, and runs on one AA battery, which is not included, so have one ready before you hang it. It hangs on the wall from a hook, so a single fixing at the height you choose is all it needs. To keep it looking its best, dust the case and face with a soft dry cloth now and then, and steer clear of harsh cleaners on the gold finish. On its own it gives a plain wall a friendly focal point, or hang it among framed prints in warm, natural tones for a relaxed country look. Wrapped up, it makes a cheerful and useful gift that will be glanced at every day.
