Description

The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered CAT5e Ethernet port behind a matt black rounded-edge steel faceplate. The outlet terminates standard twisted-pair network cable using IDC (insulation-displacement contact) terminals, allowing direct connection of CAT5e or CAT6 cable without the need for pre-terminated plugs or patch panels.

Designed for residential and light commercial network installations, the outlet creates fixed wired network points for desks, media centres, gaming consoles, and smart home devices requiring stable gigabit Ethernet connections. The rounded-edge design includes a built-in gasket between the faceplate and wall, reducing the entry of dust and providing a cleaner finish than sharp-edged plates. The 25mm minimum back box depth allows installation in both standard 25mm single-gang boxes and deeper 35mm or 47mm boxes where additional cable management space is needed.

The matt black finish on the premium-grade steel faceplate provides a low-sheen, non-reflective surface that pairs with contemporary interiors, home offices and media rooms where visible switches and sockets are finished in black or graphite tones. The outlet carries BS 5733 certification for electrical accessory safety and includes a write-on designation label behind the faceplate for identifying which network drop the outlet serves. The shuttered port keeps dust and debris out of the RJ45 socket when no cable is connected, and the IDC tool is included in the pack.

Frequently Asked

What category of network cable does this support?

The outlet is rated for CAT5e UTP cable and supports gigabit Ethernet speeds up to 1000 Mbps. It will also work with CAT6 cable, though the overall link speed will be limited by the CAT5e rating of the outlet itself.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. Deeper boxes (35mm or 47mm) provide more space for cable management and termination, particularly when multiple network cables are being dressed back into the box.

Is the IDC termination tool included?

Yes. The pack includes an IDC punch-down tool for terminating the twisted-pair cable to the IDC terminals on the back of the outlet.

What does the built-in gasket do?

The gasket sits between the faceplate edge and the wall surface, reducing dust ingress around the plate and providing a tighter, cleaner finish than non-gasketed plates.
