Description
The Riverwood is a 440mm outdoor pedestal lantern with a weathered zinc finish, seeded glass cylinder and open-cage frame design. A single E27 bulb sits inside the glass, protected by the metal cage and hood above. The cylindrical glass has a seeded texture that diffuses the light while allowing clear visibility of the bulb when lit, giving a vintage lantern appearance.
Designed for mounting on gate posts, garden pillars, driveway columns and patio walls, the Riverwood sits on a fluted pedestal base with bolt-down holes for secure fixing. The 203mm diameter fits standard post caps or can be wall-mounted using a separate bracket. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for fully exposed outdoor positions, protecting against rain ingress and solid objects above 1mm.
The weathered zinc finish has a dark grey-brown tone with subtle surface variation that mimics naturally oxidised metal. The seeded glass diffuses the light evenly in all directions, providing ambient illumination across pathways and driveways without creating harsh glare. The cage frame uses vertical bars that echo traditional harbour and railway lantern designs while keeping the glass accessible for bulb changes and cleaning.
The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately). Most installations use a 6-10W warm white LED for energy efficiency and long life. The combined metal frame, glass and base give the fitting a substantial 2.5kg weight that remains stable in wind once bolted down. Kichler provides a 3-year manufacturer guarantee covering material and finish defects.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 confirms protection against rain ingress and solid objects above 1mm. The Riverwood can be installed in fully exposed positions including gate posts, driveway pillars and open garden walls, but should not be submerged or subjected to high-pressure water jets.
What bulb should I use?
The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. A 6-10W warm white LED at 2700K-3000K provides sufficient pathway lighting and lasts 15,000-25,000 hours. Filament-style LED bulbs pair well with the vintage lantern aesthetic.
How is the lantern mounted?
The fluted pedestal base has bolt-down holes for fixing to gate posts, garden pillars or driveway columns. The 203mm diameter fits standard post caps. Wall mounting requires a separate bracket (not included).
Can the glass be replaced if damaged?
Yes. The cage frame unbolts to allow the seeded glass cylinder to be removed and replaced. Replacement glass should be ordered directly from Kichler or an authorised distributor to ensure correct fit.
