Description

The Ria Medium is a single-light wall fitting with a half-rectangular ivory faux silk shade mounted on a polished chrome backplate, distinguished by three stacked hexagonal details that form the shade bracket. The shade measures 270mm wide by 230mm tall, projecting 128mm from the wall, and houses a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for hallways, bedroom walls flanking a headboard, or either side of a bathroom mirror, the Ria provides ambient light filtered through the faux silk weave rather than direct task illumination. The rectangular shade sits flat against the wall with open top and bottom apertures that allow light to wash both upward onto the ceiling and downward onto the wall surface below the fitting. The polished chrome finish on the backplate and hexagonal bracket reflects surrounding light and works with both warm neutrals and cooler greys.

The hexagonal detailing on the bracket gives the fitting a geometric accent that distinguishes it from plain fabric-shade wall lights, while the ivory faux silk softens the overall look and provides consistent light diffusion without hotspots. The Ria Medium takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The Ria carries no IP rating and is designed for dry indoor use only. It should not be installed in bathroom zones 1 or 2 where direct water contact is possible, but can be used in zone 3 (more than 600mm from a bath or shower).

How far does it project from the wall?

The fitting projects 128mm from the wall when installed, measured from the backplate to the furthest point of the shade. This is the clearance needed to avoid door swing or furniture placement conflicts.

Is the shade replaceable?

The faux silk shade is a fixed component of the fitting rather than a separate replaceable part. Contact Elstead Lighting directly if you require spare parts or shade servicing after purchase.
