Description

A low post light with a black body and a clear polycarbonate section at the head, standing 40cm tall and 14cm across. Light passes out through the clear part rather than being thrown in one direction, so the glow spreads sideways and downwards around the base. It takes an E27 lamp, and the proportions suit a standard GLS, a decorative ST64 globe or a slim tubular T45. We would put a warm white LED in ours and leave it at that.

It is a handy height for edging a path, marking the turn of a drive or punctuating a border where a full height lamp post would be far too tall. The IP44 rating means it copes with rain and splashing outdoors, and it reads just as well under a porch or along a covered side passage. With a suitable dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, the level can be brought right down for evenings sat outside. Where a run of them is wanted, we would space them evenly along one side of a path rather than lining both.

The body is finished in black and the clear part is moulded polycarbonate, which shrugs off knocks rather better than glass in a spot close to boots and wheelbarrows. To keep the output clean, wipe the clear section with a damp cloth and a drop of washing up liquid whenever grit or cobwebs gather, then dry it off; the black finish asks for nothing more than the same cloth. It carries a two year warranty. The same design runs to a taller post and an upward facing wall light, so a path and a doorway can be kept in step with one another. Lamps are not included.
