Description

A slim upright in black, standing 100cm tall and finished with a clear polycarbonate diffuser 14cm across, so light travels sideways along a path as well as downwards. It takes a single E27 lamp, and we would reach for an LED GLS globe, a squirrel cage ST64 or a slim tubular T45, up to 20W. By day it reads as a quiet dark line rather than an ornament.

Post lights at this height do their best work at knee to waist level, marking the edge of a gravel path, a set of steps, a border or the turn of a drive. It is sealed against rain and splashing, so an open garden, a patio or a front approach all suit it. Set several at even spacings for a lit route, or use a pair either side of a gate. With a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer on the circuit, the level can be brought down for evenings when you want the planting lit rather than the ground.

The body is finished in black and the diffuser is clear polycarbonate, which stands up to knocks from a mower or a wheelbarrow better than glass would. Give it a wipe with a damp cloth and a little washing up liquid a couple of times a season, with the power off and the lamp cold, and dry the diffuser so it does not spot; garden dust and pollen dull the light faster than anything else. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the same design as a shorter post for low borders and as an upward wall light, so a drive and a doorway can be treated together. Lamps are not included.
