Description

The Reif is a 68mm diameter recessed downlight with a matt black aluminium bezel and a gold-finished reflector cone, housing a GU10 socket rated up to 12W. The black exterior sits flush with the ceiling surface while the gold reflector directs light downward in a fixed beam, adding warmth to the light output compared to white or silver reflectors.

Designed for recessed installation in ceilings with void depths of at least 60mm, the Reif suits living rooms, hallways, dining rooms and bedrooms where directional accent or task lighting is needed. The fixed angle makes it appropriate for highlighting artwork, architectural features, or providing focused downlight onto surfaces like kitchen worktops or bedside tables. The 54mm height from ceiling surface to the top of the trim ring gives a low-profile finish once installed.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion and withstands typical indoor heat levels generated by GU10 halogen or LED bulbs. The gold reflector finish softens the quality of light compared to chrome or white reflectors, reducing harshness and giving a warmer tonal quality to the beam. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor spaces — bathrooms and outdoor installations require higher IP-rated fittings. The Reif accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 12W (sold separately), allowing choice of beam angle, colour temperature and brightness to suit the specific application.

What ceiling void depth is required?

The fitting requires a minimum void depth of approximately 60mm above the ceiling surface to accommodate the lamp holder and bulb. Check the void depth before ordering if installing in a shallow ceiling or plasterboard on battens.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and is suitable only for dry indoor locations. Bathrooms require fittings rated IP44 or higher depending on zone.

What bulb does it take?

The Reif takes a standard GU10 twist-and-lock bulb up to 12W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use a GU10 LED between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K for general downlighting, or a narrower beam angle for accent lighting.

Is the beam angle adjustable?

No. This is a fixed-angle downlight. The beam is determined by the GU10 bulb you choose — wide flood bulbs (100°+) give general room lighting, narrow spot bulbs (25-40°) give accent lighting on specific features.
