Description
The Regents Park is a 350mm outdoor wall lantern with a hand-crafted solid brass frame finished in verdigris, four clear glass panels, and a pagoda-style roof topped with decorative finials. The verdigris finish replicates the natural patina that forms on aged brass exposed to weather, then lacquered to fix the colour and protect the metal. Inside the glass chamber, a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) provides light that shows through the clear glass on all four sides.
Designed for porch entrances, courtyard walls and period property frontages, the lantern carries an IP44 rating, meaning it withstands rain and dust when mounted in a sheltered position such as under an overhang or recessed porch. The 100mm projection from the wall keeps the body clear of door swings and traffic, while the 185mm width provides enough visual presence to mark an entrance without overwhelming a typical domestic doorway. The E27 fitting accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose warm or cool colour temperatures depending on the setting.
The brass frame is die-cast in sections, hand-assembled, then hand-finished with the verdigris patina applied in multiple layers to give depth and variation across the surface. The decorative band running along the top and bottom edges features a repeating floral relief pattern cast into the metal, and four spherical finials sit at the corners of the roof. The clear glass panels are bevelled at the edges and held in place by the brass framework, allowing the internal bulb to be visible when lit. Elstead Lighting covers the fitting with a lifetime guarantee on the metalwork.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashed from any direction. It suits sheltered outdoor positions such as covered porches, recessed doorways and walls under eaves, but should not be exposed to direct driving rain or installed on fully exposed gable walls.
What bulb should I use?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Most users fit a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to pair with the period styling. Bulbs are sold separately.
Will the verdigris finish fade or change colour?
The verdigris patina is applied by hand then sealed with a protective lacquer to fix the colour. The finish is stable and will not continue to age or darken under normal outdoor conditions. Clean gently with a damp cloth if dust accumulates — do not use abrasive cleaners or metal polish.
How is the lantern fitted to the wall?
The rear mounting plate fixes to the wall with two screws (fixings not included — choose appropriate fixings for your wall type). The lantern body then attaches to the mounting plate, with the mains cable feeding through the back plate into the internal compartment. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
