The lantern mounts on a rectangular backplate with a single E27 socket inside the glass capsule, taking bulbs up to 60W (sold separately). The IP44 rating protects against splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, patio walls and exterior doorways.

Designed for residential front doors, side entrances and smaller outdoor zones where a full-size lantern would overpower the scale, the Reef Mini projects 165mm from the wall and spans 140mm wide. The 203mm height fits comfortably between typical door frame height and soffit level on single-storey extensions, garages and garden outbuildings. The grey finish sits between charcoal and mid-grey, pairing with both traditional brick and modern render finishes without the stark contrast of black or the maintenance demand of polished metals.

The frosted glass diffuses light evenly in all directions while the inside-etched surface texture reduces glare when viewed directly from below. The cast aluminium frame and backplate add weight and rigidity, keeping the lantern stable in wind and reducing vibration noise. What does the IP44 rating mean?

IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, doorways and patio walls where it is not directly exposed to heavy rain or hose-down cleaning.

What bulb should I use?

The Reef Mini takes an E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K for soft ambient light at a door or entrance. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can this be installed on an unprotected exterior wall?

IP44 provides splash protection but not full weatherproofing. Install the Reef Mini under a porch overhang, soffit or other cover that shields it from direct downpours. For fully exposed walls, consider a higher IP-rated fitting.

What height should it be mounted?

For front doors and side entrances, typical mounting height is 1500-1700mm from ground level, positioning the light at head height for visitors. For patio walls or garden outbuildings, mount at a height that balances light distribution with avoiding glare when seated.
