Description
The Reed is a 420mm diameter flush ceiling light with a hand-assembled Tiffany-style stained glass dome in a geometric sunburst pattern. The shade combines panels of golden amber, soft cream, olive green and dark brown glass, held in a bronze-coloured metal frame that sits flush against the ceiling on a vintage bronze canopy. Two E27 bulb fittings inside the dome cast warm light through the coloured glass, creating a golden ambient glow with tonal variation across the room.
Designed for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m or spaces where a pendant would hang too low, the Reed suits bedrooms, hallways, landing areas and smaller sitting rooms. The 146mm projection from ceiling to base of shade keeps the fitting compact while the 420mm diameter provides enough coverage for rooms up to 12m². The flush mount installation requires only a standard UK ceiling rose and fits directly over existing wiring without needing additional ceiling fixings or plates.
Each glass panel is individually cut and soldered into the metal framework using traditional Tiffany assembly methods, meaning the exact placement and tonal variation of the amber, green and cream glass differs slightly between individual fittings. The sunburst geometry radiates from a central medallion outwards to the rim, echoing Art Deco and Arts & Crafts design language from the early 20th century. The vintage bronze finish on the metal canopy and rim softens over time and pairs well with oak, walnut and darker timber interiors common in period homes.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Reed take?
The fitting takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-8W and 2700K to enhance the golden tones in the amber glass without overheating the shade.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The 146mm projection from ceiling to base of shade makes the Reed well-suited to rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m, including bedrooms, hallways and smaller sitting rooms where a pendant would hang too low.
Does the glass pattern vary between fittings?
Yes. Each shade is hand-assembled from individually cut stained glass panels, so the exact placement and tonal variation of the amber, green and cream glass differs slightly between individual Reed fittings. This is characteristic of traditional Tiffany-style production.
How is the glass cleaned?
Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the glass or using household sprays as they can leave residue in the soldered joints and dull the finish on the bronze framework.
