Description

The Knightsbridge NH019W is an 80mm square recessed LED guide light with an integrated 1W 6000K SMD LED behind a clear diffuser in a matt white die-cast aluminium frame. The fitting mounts flush to external walls, internal stairwells and hallways with just 3mm projection from the wall surface once installed, providing low-level guide lighting without protruding into walkways.

Designed for staircases, garden pathways, deck edges and corridors where subtle wayfinding light is needed after dark, the IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes, making it suitable for both indoor and covered outdoor installation. The 230V mains voltage LED requires no separate driver or transformer — the fitting connects directly to mains wiring behind the wall, simplifying installation and reducing the number of components needed per run.

The die-cast aluminium construction withstands outdoor exposure in UK climates, and the matt white finish blends into rendered or painted walls during daylight. The 6000K daylight colour temperature provides crisp, cool-white light that reads as functional rather than decorative, making it well-suited to contemporary exteriors, modern staircases and service areas. The recessed depth of 50mm requires sufficient wall depth or a suitable chase, with a 75mm circular cut-out needed for the mounting sleeve.

What wall depth is needed for installation?

The fitting requires a minimum 50mm recessed depth behind the wall surface, with a 75mm circular cut-out for the mounting sleeve. Solid brick walls or suitable cavity wall construction can accommodate this depth, but timber-framed walls may require additional boxing or chasing.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, the IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes, making it suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, recessed doorways and covered pathways. It should not be installed in fully exposed positions subject to driving rain.

Can it be dimmed?

No. The integrated LED is non-dimmable and operates at a fixed 1W output on 230V mains. Attempting to use a dimmer switch will damage the LED driver circuit.

How bright is 45 lumens in practice?

45 lumens provides low-level guide lighting rather than task or ambient illumination. It's comparable to a small nightlight, sufficient to mark the edge of a step or show the direction of a pathway in darkness, but not enough to read by or light a full room.
