Description
The Randhurst is a 345mm outdoor wall lantern built from weather-resistant composite material finished in copper oxide, with clear seeded glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The metal-effect finish, stepped crown detail, visible rivet heads and open vents at the top reference the industrial gas lanterns fitted to period housing and warehouses in the early 20th century.
Designed for outdoor use on front doors, porch walls, garage entrances and courtyard perimeter walls, the lantern carries an IP44 rating against rain and dust ingress. The composite construction withstands freeze-thaw cycles, coastal salt exposure and UV without corroding or flaking, unlike traditional ferrous metals. The 150mm width and 149mm projection suit door surrounds and narrow porch walls where a full-size carriage lantern would overhang.
The seeded glass diffuses the bulb filament while allowing useful downward light output for steps, keyholes and threshold lighting. The copper oxide finish oxidises naturally over time, developing a darker patina in sheltered positions and lighter weathering where rain washes the surface. The stepped crown and arched glass apertures give the lantern more architectural presence than flat-panel outdoor lights of similar size.
The 5-year guarantee covers the composite body, glass seals and internal components against manufacturing faults. The lantern accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), with most users opting for a 6-10W warm-white LED filament bulb to match the period aesthetic.

Frequently Asked
Is this suitable for coastal locations?
Yes. The composite construction resists salt corrosion better than traditional ferrous metals. The copper oxide finish may weather more quickly in coastal locations due to salt spray, developing a darker patina over time.
What bulb should I use?
The lantern takes any E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a 6-10W warm-white LED filament bulb at 2700K to match the period aesthetic and provide adequate threshold light.
Can it be mounted on a rendered wall?
Yes. The lantern mounts on a standard back plate with two fixing points. On rendered or masonry walls, use masonry plugs and corrosion-resistant screws rated for outdoor use.
Does the copper finish change over time?
The copper oxide finish oxidises naturally, developing a darker patina in sheltered positions and lighter weathering where rain washes the surface. This is a characteristic of the finish, not a defect.
