Description

The Rak is a single-spotlight desk lamp built around an articulated arm that supports a directional GU10 bulb fitting at the head. The lamp stands 610mm tall from a weighted oval base measuring 250mm across, with the arm able to pivot and the spotlight head able to tilt and rotate for task lighting. Finished in a low-sheen silver grey across the metal structure, it accepts any standard GU10 halogen or LED bulb (bulb sold separately).

Designed for office desks, home workstations and studio benches where focused light is needed without occupying significant desk surface, the Rak's 250mm-wide base leaves room for keyboards, notebooks and tools while the arm extends over the work area. The adjustable head allows the light to be directed onto documents, screens or materials without spill into peripheral vision. The weighted base provides stability when the arm is extended at full reach without requiring clamping or edge-mounting.

The articulation of the arm offers height and angle adjustment across a working envelope that covers standard desk heights of 720-780mm, allowing the light source to be positioned 200-400mm above the work surface depending on the task. The silver grey finish is consistent across the base, arm and spotlight housing, presenting as a neutral tone that pairs with both warm and cool office interiors. At 1.5kg the lamp has enough mass to resist tipping when adjusted but remains light enough to be repositioned on the desk without effort.

The 440mm length gives the arm reach across the desk, and the one-year warranty applies.

What bulb does it take?

The Rak uses a standard GU10 bulb (sold separately). We suggest pairing it with a 5-7W LED GU10 in 3000K-4000K for desk work, giving directed light without excessive heat. The fitting accepts halogen GU10 bulbs as well.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming requires both a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible inline dimmer or dimmer switch. Not all LED GU10 bulbs dim smoothly, so check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer.

How adjustable is the arm?

The arm pivots at the base joint and the spotlight head tilts and rotates at the top joint. This allows the light to be positioned over the work area and angled down onto the desk surface, with enough range to cover typical reading, writing and keyboard positions.

Is the base stable enough for full extension?

The 250mm oval base is weighted to 1.5kg, which provides stability when the arm is extended. The lamp does not require clamping or edge-mounting, but placing it on a flat, level surface is recommended to prevent tipping when adjusting the head position.
