Description
The Radiara-1 is a 144mm diameter recessed LED downlight with an integrated 15W COB (Chip on Board) LED delivering 3000K warm white light. The fitting sits flush with plasterboard ceilings through a white powder-coated die-cast aluminium trim ring, with the LED reflector recessed behind a textured lens that controls beam spread and reduces glare.
Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the Radiara-1 carries an IP44 front protection rating, allowing it to be installed in bathrooms (outside shower zones), kitchens above worktops, utility rooms and covered outdoor porches where moisture resistance is needed. The 15W output suits ceiling heights of 2.4-2.7m in rooms up to 12-15m², making it appropriate for bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms and smaller living spaces. The downlight requires a 71mm ceiling cut-out and a minimum void depth of approximately 80mm above the ceiling line for the driver and heat dissipation.
The white finish on the visible trim ring blends into white or light-coloured ceilings, minimising the visual impact of the fitting when not lit. The die-cast aluminium construction provides passive heat dissipation for the LED module, extending lamp life and maintaining consistent output over the rated 30,000-hour lifespan. The COB LED technology concentrates multiple LED chips onto a single substrate, producing more uniform light distribution than earlier multi-diode arrays and reducing the appearance of individual point sources within the reflector.

Frequently Asked
What size ceiling cut-out is required?
The Radiara-1 requires a 71mm diameter ceiling cut-out. The visible trim ring extends to 144mm diameter once installed, covering the aperture and sitting flush with the ceiling surface.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP44 front protection rating allows installation in bathroom zones outside the shower enclosure and above the bath, typically Zone 2 or outside zones. The downlight must not be installed directly above a shower head or bath where it would be subject to direct water jets.
Is the LED replaceable?
No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and not user-replaceable. The rated lifespan is approximately 30,000 hours, equivalent to around 10-15 years of typical domestic use. The entire fitting would need replacing when the LED reaches end of life.
What void depth is needed above the ceiling?
Approximately 80-100mm of void depth is required above the ceiling for the driver unit and to allow adequate air circulation for heat dissipation. Check the installation instructions for the exact clearance required around the fitting.
