Can LED bulbs be used?

Yes. The 40W maximum rating refers to traditional incandescent wattage. LED bulbs generate far less heat, so an LED candle bulb rated at 4-6W equivalent to 40W incandescent is suitable and recommended for longevity of both the bulb and the fabric shade.

How does the clip-on mechanism work?
