Description

The Hinkley Quincy is a 235mm diameter outdoor chain pendant with a bell-shaped die-cast aluminium frame in an oil rubbed bronze finish, housing dual-layer glass: a seeded clear outer layer and an etched opal inner cylinder around a single E27 bulb fitting. The seeded glass diffuses light outward while the opal inner cylinder mimics the glow of a candle flame, providing both ambient light and decorative presence.

Designed for covered porches, entrance canopies and outdoor alcoves where direct rain exposure is avoided, the Quincy carries an IP23 rating, protecting against light moisture and airborne particles but not sustained water contact. The 1000mm chain allows the pendant to be set between 490mm and 1420mm drop on installation, accommodating different ceiling heights and clearance needs. The chain conceals the cable run and fixes to a ceiling rose compatible with standard outdoor wiring boxes.

The oil rubbed bronze finish provides a dark, matte metallic tone that weathers gracefully in sheltered outdoor conditions and pairs with both traditional and transitional architecture. The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion better than stamped steel while keeping the fitting weight manageable for standard ceiling fixings. The pendant accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W, sold separately, giving control over light colour and brightness to suit the specific outdoor setting.

Can the Quincy be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

No. The IP23 rating protects against light moisture and airborne particles but not direct rain or water jets. The pendant is designed for covered porches, entrance canopies and sheltered alcoves where it is protected from weather exposure from above and the sides.

What bulb does it take?

The Quincy takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to replicate the candle-flame effect suggested by the etched opal inner cylinder.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

No. The chain length is set during installation by removing links before final wiring. Once the ceiling rose is fixed and the pendant is wired, the drop cannot be easily changed without partial re-installation.

How is the glass cleaned?

The outer seeded glass and inner opal cylinder can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately. For stubborn marks, a dilute solution of washing-up liquid and water works, but avoid soaking the metal frame or allowing water to pool inside the bell housing.
