Description

The Quilbrook cluster brings seven clear glass globes together in a tight group under one bright nickel plate. Unlike a cascade, the globes sit at similar heights, so the cluster reads as a single soft mass of light rather than a falling line. The plate measures 530mm across and the fitting projects 1140mm to 1340mm below the ceiling, a normal pendant drop for a room of standard height. Seven E27 lamp holders take 10W LED bulbs, and the cluster is dimmable, so it can do the work of a main ceiling light and then settle back to something quieter for the evening.

This is the version we would pick for an ordinary room. It hangs well over a dining table, a kitchen island or a coffee table, and it works as general light in a living room or a wide hallway. At 530mm across it needs a little clearance but nothing unusual, and the drop leaves comfortable headroom under a 2400mm ceiling. Over a table, hang the lowest globe roughly 700mm above the surface so it lights the food without blocking the person opposite.

The plate, stems and globe holders are metal in bright nickel, a cool silver finish that suits grey, white and pale blue rooms. Clear glass means the bulbs are visible, so choose LED globes with a warm output if you want a softer effect. Clean with the power off and the bulbs cool, using a dry microfibre cloth for the glass, the same cloth barely damp for the nickel, and nothing abrasive on the plating. The fitting weighs 4.5kg, so a standard ceiling fixing in sound plaster or a joist is enough. Larger Quilbrook cascade pendants take the same glass into stairwells.
