Description

The Quilbrook cluster in antique brass groups seven clear glass globes closely together under a single 530mm plate. Because the globes sit at much the same level, the fitting reads as one soft ball of light rather than a falling line, which makes it easier to place in a room of normal height. It projects 1140mm to 1340mm below the ceiling. Seven E27 lamp holders take 10W LED bulbs and the pendant is dimmable, so it can light a table for dinner and then hold a low level for the rest of the evening.

This is the everyday version. It suits a dining table, a kitchen island, a coffee table or the middle of a living room, and it gives enough light to work as the only fitting in a medium sized space. The 530mm plate needs a little clearance around it but nothing unusual, and the drop leaves headroom under a standard ceiling. Over a dining table, aim to leave about 700mm between the lowest globe and the tabletop so it lights the surface without cutting across the view.

Plate, stems and holders are metal in an antique brass finish, warm toned and gently aged, which sits well with oak, walnut, brass taps and darker paint. Clear glass leaves the bulb visible, so a warm LED globe or filament shape gives the best result. Clean with the power off and the glass cool, using dry microfibre for the globes and a barely damp cloth for the brass, with no cream cleaner or scourers on plating. At 4.5kg it fixes to a standard ceiling point in sound plaster or a joist. The Quilbrook cascade versions take the same glass into taller spaces.
