Description
The Quasar is a 90cm outdoor bollard light built from powder-coated die-cast aluminium in an anthracite finish, with a sandblasted tempered glass diffuser and a single GU10 bulb fitting at the head. The bollard sits on a circular base plate approximately 115mm diameter and projects 205mm from the mounting point, positioning the downward-facing light head to cast illumination across pathways, driveways and patio edges.
Designed for semi-covered outdoor areas such as covered porches, pergolas, terraces and recessed pathways, the Quasar carries an IP43 rating — protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water spray at angles up to 60° from vertical. This means it handles light rain and typical UK weather when installed under partial shelter, but is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or spray from irrigation systems. The bollard accepts any GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to the stated wattage (see Specification), giving flexibility to choose the colour temperature and beam angle that suits the application.
The sandblasted finish on the tempered glass diffuser scatters the light source across a wider area, reducing glare from the GU10 bulb and softening the light pool on the ground. The anthracite powder coat provides corrosion resistance and a neutral dark tone that sits comfortably against greys, blacks, natural stone, rendered walls and timber cladding. The die-cast aluminium construction gives the bollard a solid 2kg-plus weight that resists movement once ground-fixed, and the powder coat finish will not flake or fade under UV exposure the way painted aluminium can.
Installation requires a ground-level electrical connection via suitable outdoor-rated cable and conduit, with the base plate either bolted to a concrete pad or set into paving. The bollard head is fixed — it does not rotate or tilt — so the downward light direction is determined at installation. For pathways, spacing bollards 3-4m apart typically provides continuous ground lighting without dark gaps.

Frequently Asked
Is the Quasar suitable for fully exposed outdoor areas?
The IP43 rating protects against light rain and spray at angles up to 60° from vertical, making it suitable for semi-covered areas such as covered porches, pergolas, terraces and recessed pathways. For full exposure to driving rain or direct spray from irrigation, a bollard with an IP65 or IP67 rating would be more appropriate.
What bulb does it take?
The bollard takes a single GU10 bulb up to the wattage stated in the Specification table. GU10 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W warm-white LED GU10 at 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting.
Can the light head be adjusted?
No. The head is fixed at the factory and points downward to cast light onto the ground. The light direction cannot be adjusted once installed.
How is it installed?
The base plate bolts to a concrete pad or can be set into paving. Electrical connection requires outdoor-rated cable run through conduit to the bollard base. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK wiring regulations.
