Description

This pumpkin spice plaque is cut from MDF in the shape of a mug. It has a glazed orange finish and a white swirl of whipped cream on top. On the front, a little pumpkin motif sits above the words "Pumpkin Spice" in flowing white script, and the inside of the mug is picked out in a deeper red-brown. A twisted cord loop rises from the back like the handle of a basket, so the plaque hangs neatly from a hook or a knob. It measures 17cm high, 15.5cm wide and 1cm deep, small enough for a cupboard door or a narrow strip of wall.

We think it looks most at home in the kitchen, hung from a dresser knob, a peg rail or a hook by the coffee jar. It works just as well on a pantry door, in a café-style coffee corner or on a shelf bracket in the hallway. Because it hangs from its cord, it needs only a hook or a knob, and you can move it from room to room as the mood takes you. When the pumpkins come out each autumn, it hangs happily among candles, gourds and dried leaves around a mantelpiece or dresser.

The plaque is made from MDF with a glazed finish on the front. The back is a plain, smooth orange, and the cord is fixed at each side with small staples. The cream topping is a raised, layered piece above the rim of the mug, which gives the front a little depth when the light catches it. MDF is happiest in a dry room, so we suggest keeping it indoors away from steam and damp. Dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth. Tied to a bag of ground coffee or a box of spiced biscuits, it makes a small, cheerful gift to hand over with a warm drink.
