Description
The Provence is a 1673mm articulated floor lamp in aged brass with a conical metal shade and three adjustable knuckle joints along the arm. The lamp accepts a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) housed inside the 343mm-wide conical shade, which directs light downwards and forwards towards a reading position or work surface.
Designed for reading corners, side-of-sofa positions and home offices, the three-joint arm allows the lamp head to be angled across a wide arc from near-vertical (for close task work) to angled outwards (for broader coverage). Each joint locks into position once adjusted, so the lamp holds its angle during use. The circular weighted base provides stability without needing to be anchored, and the 580mm maximum reach from the stem allows the light to be positioned over a desk edge or armchair without moving the base.
The aged brass finish is a warmer, darker tone than polished brass, with a patina that softens the metal's reflectivity and pairs comfortably with mid-century, industrial and traditional interiors. The finish shows natural tonal variation across the surface, giving the lamp a worn-in character rather than a high-gloss showroom appearance. The solid metal construction and riveted joints give the lamp a substantial 4.2kg presence without feeling top-heavy.
From Elstead Lighting, the Provence is part of a broader mid-century-inspired collection that includes matching wall lights and desk lamps. The lamp is wired for UK mains (230V) with a fabric-covered cable and standard UK plug.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Provence takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for reading.
Can the arm be adjusted and does it stay in position?
Yes. The lamp has three knuckle joints along the arm that allow the shade to be angled from near-vertical to a wide outward reach. Each joint locks into position once adjusted and holds its angle during use.
What's the reach from the base to the lamp head?
The maximum projection from the central stem to the furthest edge of the shade is 580mm when the arm is fully extended. This allows the light to be positioned over a desk edge or armchair without needing to move the base.
Is the aged brass finish the same as polished brass?
No. Aged brass is a warmer, darker tone with a patina that reduces reflectivity. It shows natural tonal variation across the surface, giving it a worn-in mid-century character rather than the high-gloss appearance of polished brass.
