Provence Adjustable Table Lamp - Old Bronze

The Provence is an adjustable table lamp with a conical metal shade, articulated arm and circular weighted base, all finished in old bronze. Three knuckle joints in the arm allow the shade to be positioned at different heights and angles, directing light onto a desk surface, bedside book, or upwards onto a wall. The lamp takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for task lighting on desks, bedside tables and side units, the Provence suits home offices, studies, bedrooms and living rooms where adjustable directed light is needed without a fixed ceiling fitting. The weighted base keeps the lamp stable when the arm is extended at full reach, and the 223mm base diameter fits comfortably on most standard desk and bedside surfaces without dominating the available space.

The old bronze finish is a mid-tone aged brass patina with darker oxidation marks and subtle tonal variation across the metal surfaces, giving the lamp a workshop or atelier character. The construction pairs steel for the arm and shade with brass components at the joints, providing durability in the articulation points where repeated adjustment occurs. The shade interior is left in natural metal to reflect light downwards and minimise glare when viewed from the side.

From Elstead Lighting, the Provence references mid-20th-century French atelier lamps and industrial task lighting, making it compatible with traditional, industrial, rustic and eclectic interiors where a functional vintage aesthetic is wanted. The three-joint arm gives more positioning flexibility than single-joint desk lamps, allowing the shade to be angled low over a notebook or raised higher for ambient wash light.

What bulb does the Provence take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for desk or bedside reading.

How adjustable is the arm?

The arm has three knuckle joints allowing the shade to be positioned at different heights and angles. The lamp can be adjusted from a low position directly over a desk surface to a higher position for ambient light, with the shade tilting independently at the head joint.

Is the base stable when the arm is extended?

Yes. The circular base is weighted to counterbalance the arm when extended at full reach. The 223mm base diameter provides stability on most desk and bedside surfaces without needing additional clamping or fixing.

What finish is old bronze?

Old bronze is a mid-tone aged brass patina with darker oxidation marks and subtle tonal variation across the metal. It sits between polished brass and antique brass in warmth, giving a workshop or atelier character rather than a high-shine decorative finish.
