Description
The Provence is a 370mm conical pendant light with an aged brass shade, exposed bulb holder and a twisted fabric cord. The shade is spun from metal and finished in aged brass, which shows deliberately uneven tonal variation and slight surface patina to mimic the appearance of naturally oxidised brass. An E27 bulb fitting sits at the centre of the open base, meaning the bulb itself is visible when the pendant is installed.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and bar areas, the Provence typically hangs 700-900mm above a worktop or dining surface. The 1600mm fabric cord is height-adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to be set at the correct drop for ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m. The conical shade directs most of the light downwards while the exposed bulb creates upward and sideways spill, providing both task and ambient lighting.
The aged brass finish pairs well with warm-toned oak, walnut and reclaimed timber surfaces, and with industrial, mid-century and French bistro-inspired interiors. The deliberate tonal variation in the finish means no two shades look identical, and the surface will continue to develop a natural patina over time if not sealed. The 370mm diameter suits kitchen islands of 1.8-2.4m length when fitted in pairs or groups of three.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Provence takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. The bulb is visible when the pendant is installed, so decorative LED filament bulbs or vintage-style Edison bulbs are commonly paired with this fitting. Warm white (2700K-3000K) works best with the aged brass finish.
Is the cord length adjustable?
Yes. The 1600mm fabric cord is adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to be set at any drop between 280mm and 2000mm from the ceiling. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless the ceiling rose is removed and the cord re-set.
Does the aged brass finish tarnish further?
The aged brass finish is applied deliberately to show tonal variation and surface patina from the outset. Natural brass continues to oxidise over time, so the finish may develop further tarnish unless sealed. This is considered part of the character of the material rather than a defect.
What ceiling height is needed?
For a kitchen island or dining table, the shade typically sits 700-900mm above the surface. This requires a ceiling height of approximately 2.4m or higher. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Provence if the cord is shortened during installation.
