Description
A candle-shaped LED lamp with the smaller E14 screw cap, finished in white and slim enough to look right in fittings that leave the bulb on view. It draws 5W and gives 470 lumens of cool white light at 4000K, a crisper, slightly blue-leaning white that reads as clean and awake rather than cosy. Light is thrown all round rather than pushed forward, so shades that rely on the lamp itself to fill them are well served. It is non-dimmable, so it wants a plain switch rather than a trailing dimmer, and it comes as a pair.
We sell a great many of these as straight replacements in chandeliers, small wall lights and table lamps with narrow shades, where the candle silhouette matters nearly as much as the light. The cooler tone suits kitchens, home offices, utility rooms, landings and hallways, anywhere you want clarity for close work at a bench or a worktop. It is a sensible buy if you have a multi-arm fitting and prefer to change lamps in matched sets, because a pair keeps the tone even across the arms instead of leaving one branch warmer than its neighbour. Keep it to dry rooms indoors.
The white body carries the candle profile through to a smooth tip, which keeps things tidy when the lamp is seen from below or through clear glass. Cleaning is a small job: turn the light off at the switch, give the lamp a few minutes until it is cool to hold, then run a dry cloth over the white body and leave the cap and contacts untouched by any liquid. It carries a three year warranty. Sold in pairs, it is the one we reach for when a chandelier has dropped a lamp and the others are still in good order, and it is worth keeping a spare pack in the drawer for the next one to go.

Frequently Asked
What size is this bulb?
It measures 37mm across the widest part of the candle shape and 100mm from tip to the base of the cap, so it fits comfortably into small shades and candle-style holders.
How bright is it, and what does it replace?
It gives 470 lumens from 5W, which is the sort of output people expect from a traditional small candle bulb of around 40W.
Can I use it with a dimmer?
No. It is non-dimmable and should be run from an ordinary on-off switch. Fitting it to a dimmer circuit can cause flicker, buzz or early failure.
Is 4000K too cool for a living room?
It is a neutral, cool white and is at its best in kitchens, studies and utility spaces. For a soft evening glow in a sitting room, a warmer white is the easier choice.
How long should it last?
The average rated life is 15,000 hours, and it carries a three year warranty.
Can it go in an outdoor lantern?
Not an exposed one. It is rated IP20, so it needs a dry, sheltered position indoors.
