Description

The Prinorne is a white outdoor wall light with a rounded half-dome hood of cast aluminium sheltering a fluted glass shade. A narrow slot runs across the crown, and a flat frame fixed with screws holds the glass along the base. It is 22cm long and 15.5cm high, and it stands 12.5cm out from the wall, so it sits neatly beside a door without crowding a narrow path. It takes an E27 screw-in bulb of up to 40W, which you choose yourself, as the bulb is not included. Its IP44 rating means it is protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall.

We would put it by a front or back door, along a side return, beside a garage or on a garden wall, wherever you want a practical light that looks tidy by day as well as by night. Because corner mounting is possible, it can also go on the outside corner of a house, not only a flat wall. The plain white finish sits comfortably against render, painted brick and pale stone, and keeps the look clean on a modern or a traditional home. Fluted glass breaks up the light from a bare bulb, so it reads as a soft glow rather than a harsh point.

The body is cast aluminium. Aluminium does not rust, which suits a light that lives on an outside wall. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so you control it from a wall switch. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains as a wired fitting, so it is installed by a qualified electrician. It weighs 1.087KG packed. The installation instructions are available as a download, and all that is left to buy is an E27 bulb of no more than 40W.
