Description

The Prenvanne is a pendant light with a two-tier shade of woven bast, a natural plant fibre, hung from a black steel ceiling canopy, cable and slim stem. The shade is a warm, straw coloured natural tone, 50cm in diameter, and the light is 110cm high overall, a generous size for the centre of a living room or the space above a dining table. It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, so the colour and warmth of the light are yours to choose. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

We would hang it in a living room, a bedroom, a dining room or a hallway, anywhere dry where you want natural texture rather than glass or metal. The two tiers give the shade depth and a layered outline from every angle, so it looks considered even while the bulb is unlit, and the black canopy and cable pick up dark furniture legs, frames and fittings elsewhere in the room. It suits a home dressed in linen, pale wood, rattan and plenty of plants, and it sits just as comfortably in a plain white room that needs warmth and a little character at the ceiling.

Inside the shade, slim black spokes hold both tiers in shape around the lampholder, and the whole light weighs 1.16KG, light for its size. There is no switch on the light itself; it is switched at the wall, from the light switch you already have, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. As a mains light wired into the ceiling, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. A warm white bulb brings out the honey tones of the bast, so that is the one we would choose.
