Description

The Prebone floor lamp is a tall, slim tube of aluminium and steel in black, with an angled cut-out near the top that opens the tube to reveal a gold leaf lining. It stands 180.5cm tall, the tube is 11cm across and the round base is 22cm across, so it takes very little floor space for its height. The light source is a GU10 bulb rated at 4.7W and giving 345lm, a gentle level that suits ambient light rather than close task work. The IP rating is IP20, which means indoor use only, in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.

Because the footprint is so small, it slots neatly into the corner of a living room, beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa, and into a hallway where a wider lamp would get in the way. The gold lining is the part you notice first, catching the light whenever the bulb is lit. Against black, it gives the lamp the look of a decorative piece as much as a working light. If you like a dark finish with a touch of warm metal, the black and gold pairing sits happily in both pale, plain rooms and richly coloured ones.
