The Prato Small is a 165mm table lamp built from white blown glass in a two-part form: a conical shade sits on a spherical base, creating a compact mushroom silhouette. The glass is etched and frosted during manufacture, diffusing light from a single E14 bulb (sold separately) into a soft ambient glow. The base and shade are sealed as a single unit, with no visible joints or hardware.

Designed for bedside tables, side tables and small desks where space is limited, the Prato Small provides low-level ambient light rather than task lighting. The 165mm diameter footprint fits easily on a typical bedside table alongside a phone, book or water glass. An inline switch on the power cable allows the lamp to be turned on and off without reaching behind furniture to the wall socket. The IP20 rating confirms indoor-only use — not suitable for bathrooms.

The white blown glass is hand-finished, so subtle variations in opacity and frosting intensity appear between individual pieces depending on which section of the glass batch they were formed from. The spherical base gives the lamp a low centre of gravity, reducing the risk of tipping if the cable is pulled. At 165mm diameter the Prato Small is noticeably more compact than the standard Prato model, making it better suited to narrow side tables and smaller bedrooms.

The Prato Small takes a single E14 small Edison screw bulb (also called SES or candle base). Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 3-5W and 2700K for ambient bedside lighting.

Can it be used with a dimmer switch?

The lamp itself is rated as non-dimmable. However, dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you choose. If you use a dimmable E14 LED bulb, you can control brightness via a trailing-edge dimmer on the wall circuit, but the inline cable switch has no dimming function.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the lamp offers no protection against moisture and must only be used in dry indoor locations. For bathrooms you need a fitting rated at least IP44.

How is the glass cleaned?

Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth when the lamp is switched off and cool. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Do not use glass cleaners, sprays or polishes on the etched frosted surface as they can leave residue in the texture.
