Portofino 1 Light Outdoor Wall Light - Grey

The Portofino is a single-light outdoor wall fitting with a grey powder-coated 304-grade stainless steel body and a clear glass shade enclosing an E27 bulb holder. The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and sheltered patio walls where direct rain exposure is limited.

The fitting projects 247mm from the wall, positioning the glass shade clear of most door frames and allowing downward light spread across a porch step or pathway edge. The 100mm width and 197mm height keep the visual footprint compact enough for narrow wall sections beside front doors or gate posts. The clear glass allows full brightness from the bulb while the grey steel body recedes against darker render, brick or timber cladding.

The 304-grade stainless steel resists surface corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments better than mild steel or aluminium equivalents. The powder coat finish adds a layer of protection and maintains colour consistency across UV exposure and temperature cycling. Elstead backs the Portofino with a 15-year warranty covering material and finish degradation under normal outdoor use.

What bulb does the Portofino take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to replicate traditional outdoor lantern warmth while keeping energy costs low.

Can this be used in fully exposed locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction but not continuous rain or submersion. The Portofino is designed for covered positions under eaves, porch canopies, and sheltered patio walls. For fully exposed coastal or open garden walls, an IP65-rated fitting would be more appropriate.

What's the projection from the wall?

The fitting projects 247mm from the mounting surface, positioning the glass shade clear of most door frames and allowing downward light spread across steps or pathway edges. Check clearance if installing beside opening doors or gates.

How is the glass shade accessed for bulb changes?

The clear glass shade typically unscrews or unclips from the grey steel housing, allowing bulb access without removing the entire fitting from the wall. Exact access method varies by production batch — consult the installation manual included with the product.
