Description

The Polar Short is an 8.2cm diameter cylindrical pendant light finished in matte gold aluminium, housing a single downward-facing GX53 bulb (sold separately). The fitting consists of a machined aluminium cylinder open at the bottom, with a white plastic diffuser ring set into the lower aperture to soften the direct light output. The matte gold finish has a low-sheen surface that reduces glare under daylight and provides a warm metallic accent without the reflective brightness of polished brass.

Designed for downlighting over kitchen islands, bar counters, dining tables and hallways, the Polar Short works as a single pendant or in multiples spaced evenly along a run. The adjustable cable allows a drop height between 11cm and 108.5cm, letting the pendant sit close to the ceiling in lower rooms or be dropped further in spaces with higher ceilings. The compact 8.5cm body height and narrow diameter make it suitable for positions where a larger pendant would obstruct sightlines or feel disproportionate to the room scale.

The GX53 bulb base is a low-profile twist-and-lock format common in recessed downlights and compact pendants, accepting LED discs typically between 7W and 11W. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry interior locations only. The Polar Short uses a GX53 bulb, a low-profile twist-and-lock format common in recessed downlights. GX53 LED bulbs are sold separately and typically range from 7W to 11W. The fitting accepts bulbs up to 15W maximum.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting has no protection against moisture and is suitable only for dry interior locations. It cannot be used in bathrooms, outdoor covered areas or any space with elevated humidity.

How low can the pendant hang?

The adjustable cable allows a minimum drop of 11cm from the ceiling rose to the base of the fitting, and a maximum drop of 108.5cm. The height is set during installation by adjusting the cable length inside the canopy.

Can multiple Polar pendants be installed in a row?

Yes. The compact diameter and adjustable height make the Polar Short well-suited to being installed in multiples over kitchen islands, bar counters or dining tables. Spacing between pendants typically ranges from 40cm to 80cm depending on the length of the run and the desired light distribution.
