Plymouth 6 Light Chandelier - Old Bronze

The Plymouth is a 6-light chandelier built on six curved arms extending from a central column, finished in hand-rubbed old bronze with cream organza fabric shades trimmed in brown banding. Each arm terminates in a candle-sleeve E14 socket (bulbs sold separately), and the 705mm diameter makes it suitable for dining tables, entrance halls and living rooms with floor areas of 15-25m².

The chandelier hangs on a chain with an adjustable drop between 676mm minimum and 2201mm maximum, set during installation by shortening the chain inside the ceiling canopy. For a typical dining table the pendant sits 750-850mm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The old bronze finish is applied by hand-rubbing, giving each piece slight tonal variation across the metalwork and a darker patina in the recesses of the scrollwork.

The six arms are arranged symmetrically around the central column, each terminating in a turned candle cup with decorative scrollwork below. The cream organza shades soften the light from the E14 bulbs and reduce glare when the chandelier is viewed from seated positions. The brown trim on each shade picks up the darker bronze tones in the metalwork. The combined metal frame and shades give the fitting a traditional silhouette that pairs with classical, country house and transitional interiors.

What bulbs does the Plymouth take?

The chandelier takes six E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional look.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 676mm to 2201mm, set during installation. For a dining table the chandelier typically sits 750-850mm above the surface, which requires a ceiling height of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the fitting if the chain is shortened to the 676mm minimum drop.

Can the shades be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The organza shades clip onto the metal frame above each bulb socket and can be removed for dusting or replacement. Wipe the fabric gently with a dry microfibre cloth or use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum at low power.

Is the old bronze finish consistent across pieces?

The hand-rubbed old bronze finish is applied by hand, so slight tonal variation between individual chandeliers is normal. The finish shows darker patina in the recesses of the scrollwork and lighter bronze on raised surfaces, which is a characteristic of the hand-rubbing process.
