Description

The Playitas is a two-bar LED pendant light in brushed aluminium and black, built from steel and aluminium. Each bar is a long, slim band with a shallow angle at its centre, and the two hang one slightly above the other on fine wires from a black rectangular ceiling canopy. It is 120cm long and 16cm wide, with an overall height of 150cm. The LEDs are integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and together they give 3,500 lumens. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

We would hang it over a dining table, where its long, low line follows the table and spreads light along its length rather than pooling it in one spot. It works just as well over a kitchen table or a long desk in a home study. Because it is dimmable and the colour temperature can be adjusted, you can run it bright and cool while you work or eat breakfast, then soften it to a warm glow for a long dinner. The colour-changing RGB setting adds a wash of coloured light for a party or a quiet evening. One fitting covers several moods.

The brushed grain runs along each bar, and the ends are neatly rounded. A remote control comes in the box, and the light can also be run from an app, so you can dim it, change the colour temperature or pick a colour from your chair. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall. The hanging height is adjusted by hand, so you can set the bars at the height that suits your table. It runs on 220-240V mains and should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
