Plantation 3 Light Flush Ceiling Light - Burnished Brass

The Plantation is a 361mm flush ceiling light built around a twisted optic glass bowl set into a burnished brass gallery rim with diamond-cut detailing. Three E27 bulb fittings inside the glass cast light through the spiral-cut pattern, which refracts into soft geometric patterns across ceilings and walls. The brass gallery rim and lower finial provide structural contrast to the clear glass, framing the bowl top and bottom.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedrooms and dining rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant drop would intrude into headroom, the Plantation sits 223mm proud of the ceiling once fitted. The 361mm diameter covers a standard UK ceiling rose and provides enough light spread for rooms up to 12-15m². The three-bulb configuration allows choice between warm filament-style LEDs for period interiors or brighter daylight LEDs for task-focused spaces.

The burnished brass finish sits between polished brass and antique brass in tone — warmer than polished, less oxidised than antique — and develops a subtle patina over time depending on room humidity and air circulation. The optic glass bowl is press-moulded with a diagonal twist pattern that runs from base to rim, giving the appearance of movement when lit. The lower brass finial is cast with radiating leaf details that mirror the diamond-cut pattern on the upper gallery.

What bulbs does it take?

The Plantation takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to suit traditional interiors, though cooler daylight LEDs work for task-focused rooms.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 223mm projection makes it appropriate for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, where a pendant drop would reduce usable headroom. The flush-mount design keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while still providing enough light spread for typical residential room sizes.

How is the glass cleaned?

The optic glass bowl can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and mild glass cleaner. The twisted surface texture traps more dust than smooth glass, so regular dusting with a dry cloth helps maintain clarity. The bowl is removable from the brass gallery for more thorough cleaning during bulb changes.

Does the brass tarnish?

Burnished brass develops a natural patina over time depending on room humidity and air quality. This is a characteristic of unlacquered brass, not a defect. If a bright finish is preferred, the brass can be polished with a brass cleaner, though most users accept the gradual darkening as part of the material's character.
