Plantation 2 Light Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Antique Nickel

The Hinkley Plantation is a 305mm diameter flush ceiling light with a hemispherical bowl of cut crystal glass set in a polished antique nickel metal frame. The glass features a pineapple-cut pattern with diagonal facets that refract light into multiple directions, casting both direct illumination downward and decorative light patterns across the ceiling. Two E27 bulbs inside the bowl (sold separately, up to 60W each) provide the light source, with the crystal glass acting as the primary diffuser.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, landings, and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.1-2.4m, the Plantation sits 203mm below the ceiling once fitted, making it suitable for rooms where a pendant would hang too low or a recessed downlight would require ceiling modification. The flush mount base plate fits UK standard ceiling roses and the metal frame extends below to cradle the glass bowl, with decorative leaf-pattern detailing stamped into the nickel collar around the rim.

The polished antique nickel finish gives the metal a soft silver tone with subtle darkening in the recessed details, creating visual depth without the high reflectivity of polished chrome. The crystal glass bowl weighs approximately 1.2kg and sits within the metal frame rather than hanging below it, giving the fitting structural presence suitable for traditional, classical and period-style interiors. The 305mm diameter makes it large enough to provide primary lighting in a 3-4m hallway or secondary lighting in a 4m x 4m bedroom when paired with bedside task lights.

What bulbs does it take?

The Plantation takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for general hallway or bedroom lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 203mm projection makes it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.1m or above, where a pendant would hang too low. The flush mount design sits close to the ceiling while still providing adequate light spread.

Can it be fitted to a sloped ceiling?

No. The Plantation is designed for horizontal ceiling mounting only. The glass bowl sits within the metal frame and relies on gravity to remain properly seated.

How is the glass cleaned?

The crystal glass bowl can be removed from the metal frame for cleaning. Wipe with a damp microfibre cloth and mild glass cleaner, then dry thoroughly before refitting. The cut pattern traps dust in the facets, so cleaning every 3-4 months maintains clarity.
