Description

The Pickering Lane is a 254mm diameter semi-flush ceiling light built around a seeded glass urn shade suspended from a black metal canopy on a short turned stem. Three E14 candle bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the glass enclosure on a black metal frame, creating a storm-lantern effect when lit. The seeded glass texture diffuses the bulb filaments into a soft glow while retaining visible candlelight detail.

Designed for entrance halls, landings, dining rooms and kitchens with ceiling heights between 2.3m and 2.6m, the semi-flush format keeps the fitting close to the ceiling without requiring pendant clearance below. The 410mm minimum drop from ceiling to base suits rooms where a full pendant would intrude into headroom. The fitting can also be converted to a pendant by adding chain links (915mm chain supplied), extending the maximum drop to 1405mm for installation in higher-ceilinged spaces or over dining tables.

The urn-shaped glass shade measures 254mm across at its widest point and tapers to a narrower neck at the top, giving the fitting a traditional farmhouse profile without the bulk of larger lantern styles. The black finish on the canopy, stem and internal bulb frame contrasts with the clear seeded glass and pairs well with both neutral interiors and darker accent colours. Each E14 socket accepts bulbs up to 40W, giving a combined maximum of 120W output across all three bulbs.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The fitting takes three E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs around 4-6W and 2700K for a soft glow that mimics traditional candlelight.

Can it be used as a pendant instead of semi-flush?

Yes. The fitting is supplied with 915mm of chain that can be installed to convert the semi-flush into a pendant with a maximum drop of 1405mm from ceiling to base. This makes it suitable for taller entrance halls or installation above dining tables.

What ceiling height does the semi-flush configuration suit?

The 410mm minimum drop from ceiling to base works well in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.3m and 2.6m. In lower-ceilinged rooms the fitting may feel visually heavy; in much higher ceilings it benefits from being converted to pendant format using the supplied chain.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The fitting does not carry an IP rating and is designed for dry indoor use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms unless installed well outside bathroom zones (typically a separate dressing area with no direct exposure to moisture).
