Photonix Twin Head Lamp Post - White

The Photonix is a twin head lamp post with a white powder-coated aluminium column standing 2m high, topped with two matt white plastic diffuser globes mounted on extending arms. Each head houses an E27 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately), and the IP44 rating allows outdoor use in UK gardens, driveways and pathways where the post is exposed to rain but not direct water jets.

Designed for front gardens, driveway edges and larger patio areas where twin-head coverage spreads light across a wider footprint than a single lantern would achieve, the Photonix suits both functional pathway lighting and ambient garden illumination. The 2m height places the light heads above typical garden furniture and hedge lines, while the 575mm arm span between the two heads provides approximately 1.5-2m of effective lit radius per side when fitted with standard E27 LED bulbs between 6W and 10W.

The extruded and turned aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and damp environments better than steel alternatives, and the white powder coating can be wiped clean of surface dirt with a damp cloth. The circular base plate fixes to a concrete foundation or paving slab with anchor bolts (not included), and the internal cable run exits through the base for connection to an outdoor mains supply via a qualified electrician. The matt white diffusers soften glare and distribute light evenly rather than casting a focused beam, making the post comfortable to pass under or sit near.

What does the IP44 rating mean?

IP44 means the lamp post is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashes from any direction. It can be installed in outdoor areas exposed to rain but should not be subjected to direct water jets or submersion.

What bulbs does it take?

Each head takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6W and 10W and 2700K-3000K for pathway and garden lighting.

How is it installed?

The circular base plate bolts to a concrete foundation or paving slab using anchor bolts (not included). The internal cable exits through the base and must be connected to an outdoor mains supply by a qualified electrician. The post cannot be installed directly into soil without a concrete footing.

Can it be used with dimmer switches?

Yes, provided you use dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible outdoor dimmer. The fitting itself supports dimming, but bulb and dimmer compatibility must be confirmed separately.
