Description
The Photonix is a twin-head lamp post with two E27 bulb fittings mounted on adjustable arms from a central anthracite aluminium column. Each head houses a matt white plastic diffuser that spreads light downward and outward, providing functional illumination for driveways, pathways and garden borders without harsh glare. The post stands approximately 2m tall and is ground-mounted via a circular base plate.
Designed for residential driveways, long pathways, and perimeter garden lighting where a single-head post would leave gaps in coverage, the twin-arm configuration provides a wider spread of light from one installation point. The IP44 rating protects the fittings against splashing water and solid objects above 1mm, making the post suitable for exposed UK outdoor conditions year-round. Each arm extends 200mm from the column, positioning the diffusers away from the central axis to reduce shadowing on the ground directly beneath the post.
The extruded aluminium column and turned aluminium arms are finished in an anthracite powder coating that resists UV degradation and surface oxidation. The matt white diffusers soften the light output from the E27 bulbs and reduce the visual impact of the bulb itself when viewed from a distance. The post accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to the maximum wattage per socket, giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and brightness to suit the application.
The circular base plate mounts onto a concrete foundation or paving slab via fixing bolts. The electrical cable runs internally through the column, concealing the wiring run from ground level to the lamp heads. The twin-head arrangement provides more even coverage than a single-head post across driveways 3-4m wide or pathways running alongside property boundaries.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Photonix take?
Each head takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this post with warm-white LED bulbs between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for pathway and driveway lighting.
Is the Photonix dimmable?
Yes, the post itself is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch on the supply circuit. The dimmer must be rated for the total wattage of both bulbs combined.
How is the post installed?
The circular base plate bolts onto a concrete foundation or paving slab. The electrical cable runs internally through the column from ground level to the lamp heads. Installation requires basic outdoor electrical work and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
What does the IP44 rating mean?
IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction and solid objects larger than 1mm. This makes the Photonix suitable for exposed driveways, pathways and gardens in typical UK weather, but it is not suitable for direct high-pressure washing or submersion.
