Description

The Photonix is a flush ceiling light built from extruded and turned aluminium with a white powder-coated finish and a matt white plastic diffuser. The single E27 bulb sits inside the diffuser, casting even, scattered light across the ceiling plane. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, as well as any dry indoor location.

Designed for bathrooms, hallways, utility rooms and cloakrooms where a low-profile ceiling fitting is needed, the Photonix sits 90mm from the ceiling surface when installed. The white-on-white finish integrates into white or neutral-painted ceilings without adding visual weight, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or lower where a pendant would intrude into headroom.

The aluminium body is powder-coated rather than painted, giving better resistance to moisture and wear in bathroom environments. The matt plastic diffuser hides the bulb filament or LED chips from view and softens the light spread, preventing harsh shadows on face and hands when used above a basin or mirror. The E27 fitting accepts any standard screw-base bulb up to 60W, and the fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and dimmable bulb.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3. This means it can be fitted above a basin, on a bathroom ceiling away from direct water spray, or in a shower cubicle zone where it will not be directly hit by water jets. It cannot be used in zone 0 or zone 1 (inside the shower tray or within 60cm of a bath rim).

What bulb does it take?

The Photonix takes a standard E27 screw-base bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bathroom and hallway use. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable bulb. The fitting itself is dimmer-compatible, but standard non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer.

What projection does it have from the ceiling?

The fitting sits approximately 90mm from the ceiling surface when installed, making it suitable for low-ceiling rooms and spaces where a pendant would reduce headroom.
