Description

The Photonix is a single-light pendant with a flattened opal glass diffuser suspended from a matt black aluminium canopy. The glass globe measures 90mm diameter by 45mm height and houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately), diffusing light evenly through the matt white glass. The pendant carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathrooms (outside shower zones), kitchens and covered outdoor areas.

Designed for installation over kitchen islands, dining tables, bathroom vanities and hallways, the Photonix works as solo accent lighting or in multiples along a row. The 930mm cable length allows the pendant to hang at typical heights of 600-750mm above worktops or 700-800mm above dining tables in rooms with 2.4m ceilings. The cable is adjustable on installation to suit different ceiling heights.

The black powder-coated aluminium canopy contrasts with the matt white glass, giving the pendant a defined two-tone appearance that pairs with both monochrome and warmer-toned interiors. The flattened globe profile sits lower than a full sphere, making it suitable for lower ceilings while still providing 360-degree light distribution. The E27 lampholder accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to the manufacturer's wattage limit, and the pendant is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and dimmable bulb.

The IP44 rating means the fitting is protected against splashing water from any direction, making it safe for use in bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the immediate shower enclosure) and in kitchens near sinks. The five-year manufacturer warranty from Ideal Lux covers defects in materials and workmanship.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes the Photonix safe for bathroom zones 2 and 3, which means it can be installed outside the immediate shower enclosure or bath area. It should not be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower cubicle (zone 0 or 1).

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light, or 4000K for task lighting over kitchen worktops.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. LED bulbs require an LED-compatible dimmer; older dimmer switches designed for halogen or incandescent bulbs may cause flickering.
