Description
The Photonix is a compact single-bulb pendant light with a matt white plastic diffuser and an anthracite powder-coated aluminium canopy, rated IP44 for use in bathroom zones 2 and 3. The diffuser is a flattened ovoid shape approximately 90mm in diameter and 45mm high, suspended on a 930mm cable from the anthracite canopy. The single E27 bulb sits inside the diffuser, which spreads the light evenly across the surface.
Designed for bathrooms, cloakrooms, and utility spaces where an IP rating is required, the Photonix works equally well over a basin, in a shower room entrance, or grouped in multiples above a kitchen island or breakfast bar. The 930mm cable is adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to be shortened to suit ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.8m. The IP44 rating means the fitting is protected against water splashes from any direction.
The matt white diffuser hides the bulb completely when viewed from below, preventing glare and giving a soft, even light output regardless of the bulb type fitted. The anthracite finish on the aluminium canopy is a mid-grey powder coat with a slight texture, not a reflective metallic. The combination of anthracite metal and matt white plastic pairs well with modern bathroom suites, industrial-style interiors, and minimalist kitchens. The fitting accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), and is compatible with most dimmer switches when paired with a dimmable bulb.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, including areas around basins, over baths (outside the direct shower spray zone), and in utility rooms.
What bulb does it take?
The Photonix takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bathroom or kitchen use.
Can it be used in a shower cubicle?
No. IP44 is suitable for bathroom zone 2 (areas around the bath or shower, not in the direct spray) and zone 3 (general bathroom areas). For direct shower spray (zone 1) you would need IP65 or higher.
Is it dimmable?
The fitting itself is dimmer-compatible. Actual dimming performance depends on the bulb you fit — use a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible LED dimmer switch for full dimming functionality.
