Description

The Phosix is a rectangular trimless recessed LED downlight with a black die-cast aluminium frame and a polycarbonate reflector, designed to sit flush with plasterboard ceilings. The integrated 6W LED delivers 3000K warm white light at a fixed beam angle, with the trimless construction allowing the plaster to meet the edge of the aperture directly, hiding the frame entirely once installed.

Designed for residential kitchens, hallways, bathrooms (dry zones only — IP20 rating), commercial offices, retail displays and hospitality spaces, the Phosix provides directed accent or task lighting where a visible bezel would disrupt the ceiling plane. The 70mm width and 71mm recess depth fit standard ceiling void depths, and the plaster-in installation creates a continuous surface once the ceiling is finished and painted.

The black polycarbonate reflector inside the aperture reduces glare and frames the light output, preventing direct view of the LED module from typical viewing angles. The die-cast aluminium construction provides the structural rigidity needed to hold the plaster edge cleanly without cracking over time. The non-dimmable 3000K output suits spaces where a consistent warm white light level is preferred without variation, and the 5-year warranty covers the integrated LED module and driver.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating restricts the Phosix to dry zones only, typically Zone 3 (areas more than 60cm from a bath or shower) or outside the designated bathroom zones. It is not suitable for zones 0, 1 or 2 where splashing or moisture exposure occurs.

Is the LED dimmable?

No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimming. If dimming is required, consider alternative Ideal Lux models with dimmable drivers or use a different Phosix variant if one is available.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The 71mm projection (recess depth) requires a minimum ceiling void of approximately 80mm to allow clearance for the driver and wiring connections above the plasterboard. Confirm void depth before ordering.

How is the trimless edge finished?

The plaster is applied up to the edge of the aperture and then sanded flush with the downlight frame. Once painted, the frame disappears into the ceiling plane, leaving only the black reflector aperture visible.
