Description
The Phosara is a 5m white fabric-covered lighting cable with a 5mm diameter, designed for pendant lights, chandeliers and other installations where the cable itself is visible as part of the design. The fabric sheath is woven from synthetic cloth over the inner copper conductors, giving the cable a textile appearance rather than the glossy finish of standard PVC flex.
Used in residential and commercial projects where the cable run needs to match or complement white ceilings, walls or fixture finishes, the Phosara allows the cable to blend into light-coloured interiors or provide a clean contrast against darker surfaces. The 5m length can be cut to the required drop on installation, making it suitable for ceiling heights from 2.4m up to 5m+ in stairwells or double-height spaces. The fabric covering remains flexible throughout the cable's length, allowing it to be shaped around ceiling roses, hooks or pulleys without kinking.
The cloth sheath protects the inner conductors from abrasion where the cable passes through ceiling fittings or light fixture entry points, and the woven construction resists fraying at cut ends when properly terminated. Ideal Lux backs the cable with a 5-year warranty covering material and construction defects. The white finish works across modern, Scandi, coastal and classical interiors where a visible cable is part of the lighting aesthetic.

Frequently Asked
Can this cable be used outdoors?
No. The Phosara is designed for interior use only. The fabric sheath is not weatherproof and will degrade if exposed to rain, UV or high humidity. For outdoor pendant installations, a cable with an IP-rated outer sheath is required.
What current rating does it carry?
Fabric-covered flex of this type typically carries 2-core or 3-core conductors rated for standard pendant light loads (up to 6A on 230V mains). Check the cable markings or contact us to confirm the conductor specification for high-wattage fittings.
Can the cable be shortened?
Yes. The 5m length can be cut to the required drop and re-terminated with standard electrical connectors or a ceiling rose. The fabric sheath should be trimmed cleanly with sharp scissors to prevent fraying, and the cut end can be sealed with heat-shrink tubing if needed.
Does the fabric need special cleaning?
The white fabric can be dusted with a dry microfibre cloth. For marks, a barely-damp cloth with plain water is acceptable, but do not soak the cable or use detergents, as moisture may wick into the sheath and reach the conductors.
